Per Scholas and Barclays attended the White House’s My Brother’s Keeper What Works Showcase in Washington D.C., highlighting our partnership’s mission to provide tuition-free technology skills training and professional development to un- or underemployed individuals.
My Brother’s Keeper is an initiative launched by President Obama aimed to “address persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color and ensure that all young people can reach their full potential.”
The showcase highlighted 30 providers who have demonstrated “rigorous evidence of impact” and at Per Scholas measuring impact is taken very seriously. Their programs have trained 6000 individuals since 1995. 80% of graduates land jobs and 75% of them retain their employment for at least one year. Per Scholas expects to train an additional 550 New Yorkers next year.
